OMG, 7 years!

Hi All,

I am back. So much has gone on in these last 7 years…where do I begin!

  1. I am DIVORCED! I finally got up enough courage to say “BOY BYE!” You can read that on my other blog “Nurses speak out loud” and the blog post “Catching Flights”.
  2. I became a published author. https://a.co/d/8vZCVuV If you know of some one who is going through a divorce or just starting over, recommend my book of devotionals.
  3. I am still a NURSE! Covid came and I am burnt out and returning to writing is what calmed and soothed my soul.
  4. I am a Nana x 2 to amazing and wonderful girls.
  5. I am healing! I am on a journey of self love, self awareness, self accountability, SELF EVERYTHING!
  6. I am older, lol!
  7. I went to therapy.
  8. I tried dating….to be continued.
  9. I am just focusing on myself and my new normal.

Move In Silence

Just B.

A lot of times we miss out on our open doors, opportunities, and blessings because we speak way too soon.

I’m going to give some very simple advice: If you have a couple of trustworthy friends or family members in your life, share your good news with them, and be done with it until the time is right. Speaking too soon, or better yet, posting too soon can sometimes be detrimental. Mainly because sometimes people are just sitting back waiting on something to go wrong for you. Believe it or not, they aren’t praying for your success. They aren’t hoping for the best. They are literally standing by with their cell phones ready to record and screenshot your downfall. Some people are content with you doing well, just not better than them.

The quicker we realize that everyone isn’t in our corner, and that everyone doesn’t have our best…

New Faces

Great read!

Just B.

“Sometimes the people whom we’ve known for only a short amount of time have a bigger impact on us than those we’ve known forever.”

A couple of months ago, I journeyed to a new country with some new faces, and had the time of my life! Everything was so fun, easy-going, and chill. There was no drama, no complaining. I mean, I almost felt like these faces were not new after all because of how well things went. That’s even true for a group of women at the church I attend; every Sunday for the past couple of years, and I do mean every Sunday, about 7 of us literally laugh and talk about everything under the sun after service until they kick us out. And to be honest, I have sometimes felt more genuineness from these new faces than I do some of my old faces. Spending that…

Fierce and Fabulous at 40!

So in a month and some change, I will be the BIG 40!

40!

At one point in my life, I never thought that I would make it to my 30’s and now I pressing my way to the fabulous 40’s. Often I would hear so many people say in a dreadful voice, “I am about to turn 40.” Now I hear  “I am glad I have made it to 40.”

Last year, I made a list entitled, “38 and ticking”, so now I am 39 and counting down to my 40th celebration of LIFE and I am fine with that.

Since last year, I have lost some family members, rekindled my love for God, becoming financially fit, working on being healthy, and just being a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend.

So often, I have not reflected on the important things in my life, I just existed and did what I thought was the best thing to do, for the sake of others and not myself. I am still learning and growing at this ripe age of 40 but I know it is for the better.

Things that I have learned!

  1. CHEER for YOURSELF. You do not need a group or an audience to let you know that you are doing great. Just a few will do, my little family does that for me.
  2. You are not going to be LIKED or LOVED by everyone. As long as you LOVE yourself and you have a few who always show you LOVE, then those are the ones that you FOCUS on.
  3. NEVER became so distracted that you miss what/who you NEED! Keep your eyes on the REWARD!
  4. GET RID OF THOSE EXPECTATIONS!!!!!! Thanks @KEGarland.
  5. DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO STEAL YOUR JOY!!!
  6. Most importantly—BE U! The REAL U is better than THE FAKE U anyday!

Life begin when YOU make the changes that are needed to make YOU HAPPY!

The Lynch Mob

We are living in a world where the LYNCH MOB has returned. They have returned with a vengeance. They no longer wear hoods over their heads, they are wearing blue, black, and brown. They have guns instead of rope. They are getting paid, they are riding in cars that state “to protect and serve” but who are you protecting and serving.

COP KILLERS.jpg

I am tired. I have a headache, my heart is hurting for my black men, my black race. I get chills just for thinking about the state of my race. The state of my handsome black men, for my husband, for my brother, for my son, for my nephews, and for everyone that looks like them. They are being targeted, they are not given their rights, they are being LYNCHED.

Police are the “NEW LYNCH MOB”. For quite sometime, I have kept my thoughts and feelings to myself, but I cannot hold my peace. My race is who I am. I am proud to be BLACK. I am proud to be a woman of color. I am not ashamed of who I am but I am ashamed of my AMERICA.

What do you see? I see a lynching, I see murder, I see ambivolence, I see bigotry, I see hatred, I SEE A NATIONAL CRISIS!

Its a shoot first and ask questions later, but it is too late.

Its time to WAKE UP!

STAND UP!

LOOK UP!

Trigger

As she stopped her vehicle along the highway

Got out of her car, listening to someone yelling

“Get on the ground”

“Don’t move”

“Put your hands up”

Tears begin to swell her eyes, her children looking out the window

Could this be the last time they see her,

As she stepped forward with her hands up,

asking what had she done wrong?

Being BLACK is your crime and it is punishable by DEATH as he pulled the TRIGGER!

Thanks, Courageous Colin!

I started on this eight days ago and then to see another unarmed black man murdered by a cop…no words.

If you have been in seclusion, hiding in a forest, or just couldn’t care less about world events, then you are not aware of the stance that Colin Kaepernick has taken.

Colin has chosen to use his platform (NFL Quarterback) as a VOICE, a FOGHORN, to let AMERICA know that even though you may sweep it under the rug, WE ARE NOT EQUAL!  He isn’t being recognized for his play on the field but what he is doing on the sidelines. Courageous Colin is his name.

Colin Kaepernick is our Ali, Jim Brown, Tommie Smith, and John Carlos.

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

He decided that he could no longer sit around and watch what is happening and not take a stand; and “NOT STANDING” is what he is doing. Colin has once again opened the door for us to discuss race relations in America and the many social injustices as well.

Social injustices such as the underfunded public education system, cop killings, racial profiling, and discrimination of all kinds.

I love AMERICA, but tell me what other race has been more bigoted against than Blacks. We were born here and have less rights than immigrants coming to look for the “American Dream”.

For years, I have stood for the anthem, but I don’t put my hand over my heart.  I stand for the Pledge of Allegiance but I do not say it or put my hand over my heart.  That is my choice.

My father was an Army veteran and served this country for many years and I know the atrocities that he went through being a black man fighting for a country who felt as though he was a second class citizen.  He couldn’t vote, had to drop out of school to help his family by working in the fields, but at 18 he wasn’t given a choice.

The national anthem has so many different meanings to many. For this Colin has been called so many things but all he is doing is “kneeling” for his cause. He has the “right”, RIGHT?

kneeling 2.jpg

So many come to this country for the “American Dream” but as blacks, for many of us it is the “American Nightmare”.

If we are so outraged by a man “kneeling” for a song, why aren’t we as outraged at these cops for murdering people.

ANY MAN’S LIFE IS WORTH FIGHTING FOR!

Gone

As he lay there with his eyes closed,

Knowing that he left with his story told,

He gave his all until the very end,

We didn’t want let him to go.

He was a man of statue and grace,

Always with a smile on his face.

Telling jokes and saying rhymes,

Making us laugh up to his time.

He was loved by many, a friend to all,

a father to most,

with a heart of gold.

He is gone but will not be forgotten,

He is forever in our hearts.

This is dedicated to my father in law whom passed away this past week, Mr. Edward Thomas Tyson.

PreJudge

I started writing this a couple of months ago. We are in a state of denial. Race became an issue when we elected the 1st Black President and it has just continued with Donald Trump who has ignited a fire in those just like him. He has said what so many have wanted to say. WE ALL HAVE DONE IT! We all have preconceived notions and judgements about other people in general. Take a moment and remember that person that you are about to talk about has feelings too.

“FAT!”         GAY!”         LOUD!”          “SHY!”              GUILTY!”

“THUG!”             “GHETTO!”         “NONBELIEVER”                “HEALER”

“FAKE!”           “ANOREXIC!”              “BITCH”            “BELIEVER”         “THIEF”

“BISEXUAL”           “HOMOSEXUAL”            “WELFARE”       “LESBIAN”

“SINGLE”        “POOR”        “HOMELESS”            “RICH”            “ARROGANT”

“IGNORANT”        “BOUGIE”        “SKINHEAD”         “RACIST”          “CONSERVATIVE”
