I am back. So much has gone on in these last 7 years…where do I begin!
I am DIVORCED! I finally got up enough courage to say “BOY BYE!” You can read that on my other blog “Nurses speak out loud” and the blog post “Catching Flights”.
I became a published author. https://a.co/d/8vZCVuV If you know of some one who is going through a divorce or just starting over, recommend my book of devotionals.
I am still a NURSE! Covid came and I am burnt out and returning to writing is what calmed and soothed my soul.
I am a Nana x 2 to amazing and wonderful girls.
I am healing! I am on a journey of self love, self awareness, self accountability, SELF EVERYTHING!
I love my beautiful and wonderful children and I am ready for them to get out that door, get on that big yellow monster, and walk into the newness of their lives.
They will be entering the unknown, like many of us do when we are about to embark on a new chapter in our lives.
Zeb is in the 10th grade. I can’t believe that he will be a SENIOR in 2 years, where has the time gone. Ashleigh is in the 6th grade. I am definitely getting older. Jayla is in the 4th grade. Soon I will have an empty nest, definitely not rushing it right now.
They will meet new people, make new friends, laugh, cry, excel, become disappointed but with this they will LEARN some type of valuable life lesson. Old friends may become lost in the shuffle and you may discover that you don’t need a big circle just a loyal few.
Here are a few things that I told them about starting the new school year. We can use this in our every day life.
Learn everything that you can.
Ask questions.
Listen for the answers.
Be still.
Be silent when needed.
Be Great!
Give 120%!
For the fact, I work at night, I missed out on watching them walk out the door this morning. It was bittersweet. I did get the joy of having the house to myself.
The MONTH of LOVE is upon us. I have set a few ambitious goals for myself and “A Perfectly Flawed Ruby” and one of those goals are: To post everyday this month about “LOVE!” It may be a poem, an article, or pictures, just something about “LOVE”.
Also since it is Black History Month, I will also be posting daily about notable, infamous, and some unsung heroes. This week will be dedicated to our SPORTS HEROES! Today, I chose Doug Williams, the first black starting quarterback to lead their team to a Superbowl win. Check it out http://www.wordpress.com/post/aflawedruby2015.com/1270
By this time next week, hopefully Cam Newton will be the third starting black quarterback to lead his team, the Carolina Panthers to the Superbowl and win and the first black quarterback to win a National Championship at the collegiate level and professional level, let’s not forget he won the Heisman, too!
The second week will be devoted to technological advances by black Americans. My third week will devoted to actors, creative people, musicians, and others in this type of category. The fourth week will center around those who have made tremendous strides in political activism and they will carry the month out.
February is Heart Health month! I will post once a week about heart healthy ideas, recipes, and exercises that you can do to keep your HEART HEALTHY!
February is Black History Month. Black History is “Our” History. I say “Our” because as Americans, we must learn the contributions of others. Blacks have played a major role in the building of our nation, contributions to society, technology advances, bringing together the racial divide, and so much more. During this month, I will shine light on some notable and not so notable Black Americans.
Since the Superbowl is next Sunday, the first History Maker that I chose is Douglas “Doug” Lee Williams. Doug Williams was the first starting black quarterback to win the Superbowl XXII with the Washington Redskins in 1988 and was also named the Superbowl MVP.
He was drafted in the first round in 1978 by Tampa Bay Buccaneers and led them to the first NFC Championship Game. He was the lowest paid starting quarterback in the NFL. and the lowest behind 12 backups. After a couple of years in Tampa Bay, he left and went to the USFL. Once the USFL fizzled out, he was recruited by Joe Gibbs, who was the head coach of the Washington Redskins. He landed the starting job from Jay Schroeder and eventually led the Redskins to the Superbowl where they beat the Denver Broncos.
After his football career, he became the head coach of his Alma Mater, Grambling State University. He is still involved in football as an executive with the Washington Redskins.
BLACK HISTORY is AMERICA’S HISTORY!
