Fierce and Fabulous at 40!

So in a month and some change, I will be the BIG 40!

40!

At one point in my life, I never thought that I would make it to my 30’s and now I pressing my way to the fabulous 40’s. Often I would hear so many people say in a dreadful voice, “I am about to turn 40.” Now I hear  “I am glad I have made it to 40.”

Last year, I made a list entitled, “38 and ticking”, so now I am 39 and counting down to my 40th celebration of LIFE and I am fine with that.

Since last year, I have lost some family members, rekindled my love for God, becoming financially fit, working on being healthy, and just being a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend.

So often, I have not reflected on the important things in my life, I just existed and did what I thought was the best thing to do, for the sake of others and not myself. I am still learning and growing at this ripe age of 40 but I know it is for the better.

Things that I have learned!

  1. CHEER for YOURSELF. You do not need a group or an audience to let you know that you are doing great. Just a few will do, my little family does that for me.
  2. You are not going to be LIKED or LOVED by everyone. As long as you LOVE yourself and you have a few who always show you LOVE, then those are the ones that you FOCUS on.
  3. NEVER became so distracted that you miss what/who you NEED! Keep your eyes on the REWARD!
  4. GET RID OF THOSE EXPECTATIONS!!!!!! Thanks @KEGarland.
  5. DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO STEAL YOUR JOY!!!
  6. Most importantly—BE U! The REAL U is better than THE FAKE U anyday!

Life begin when YOU make the changes that are needed to make YOU HAPPY!

Gone

As he lay there with his eyes closed,

Knowing that he left with his story told,

He gave his all until the very end,

We didn’t want let him to go.

He was a man of statue and grace,

Always with a smile on his face.

Telling jokes and saying rhymes,

Making us laugh up to his time.

He was loved by many, a friend to all,

a father to most,

with a heart of gold.

He is gone but will not be forgotten,

He is forever in our hearts.

This is dedicated to my father in law whom passed away this past week, Mr. Edward Thomas Tyson.

A Grandmother’s/Mother’s Love

There is no love like a grandmother’s love. Grandmothers are GRAND! My mother is an awesome grandmother.  My brother and I have given her 10 grandchildren.

When I was 19, I became a mother. When I returned to college, she raised my daughter. My daughter has lived with my mom ever since.  My mom gave me the opportunity to complete my degree despite the circumstance of being a teen mom. I didn’t graduate from college at that time, but knowing I had such a supportive mother, it was great.

Did I consider getting my child as I grew older? No. Why? I knew she was in a better place. I knew she was with the woman who would show her how to be a young lady. We have had our ups and downs and I think that just maybe, it would have been different, if I would have been a better mother.

My mother has done everything in her power to make sure that her children and grandchildren are taken care of.  I know that we all have stressed her out to the max, she will let us know and then some.

I am grateful for all she has done for me and my family.

She has made so many sacrifices in raising her children and grandchildren. She is my love!

I Will Always Love You!

Continuing with the love theme, I chose a song that was a chart topper and part of a movie soundtrack.

“I will always love you”…this song was brought to life by the late great Whitney Houston. Who doesn’t remember this song from the movie, The Bodyguard, which made her an incredible leading lady.

It was originally a country song and was sung by Dolly Parton and you will hear both versions in significant parts of the movie.

How to show LOVE daily…

Continued with the “Love Theme” for the month of February, here is another quote, a biblical one.  Taken from the Holman Christian Study Bible.

1 Corinthians 13: 4-8

4 Love is patient, love is kind.

Love does not envy,

is not boastful, is not conceited,

5 does not act improperly,

is not selfish, is not provoked,

and does not keep records of wrongs.

6 Love finds no joy in unrighteousness

but rejoices in the truth.

7 It bears all things, believes all things,

hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never ends.

A Thomas Point of View

Today’s love theme is about waiting. I posted last month in a two part series about waiting until marriage to have sex again and the importance of honoring my temple and honoring God. Since it’s February and ya’ll are all in love, looking for love, hope to be in love and everything in between, I want to talk about the love called…waiting.

Last September after over a year of dating, I got tired of all the foolishness that I was encountering with the men that I met. I started thinking about what I was putting out in the world to attract the kind of manipulative and immature men that I was meeting. What is wrong with me? I decided that self-reflection was something that I needed to do, but more importantly I needed to pray. I needed guidance.

So, I went to the man above. I went to God and in earnest…

A Father’s Love

John 3:16- “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

LOVE is…

Love is soothing,

Love is calm,

Love is what you want in the perfect storm.

Love is caring,

Love is kind,

Love will give you peace of mind.

Love is painful,

Love is true,

Love will make you do silly things out the blue.

Love is somber,

Love is sweet,

Love will make the messiest person neat.

Love is caring,

Love is true,

I am so glad that, I LOVE YOU!

LOVE is what it does!  Don’t just tell me, I want you to show me!
