Fierce and Fabulous at 40!

So in a month and some change, I will be the BIG 40!

At one point in my life, I never thought that I would make it to my 30’s and now I pressing my way to the fabulous 40’s. Often I would hear so many people say in a dreadful voice, “I am about to turn 40.” Now I hear  “I am glad I have made it to 40.”

Last year, I made a list entitled, “38 and ticking”, so now I am 39 and counting down to my 40th celebration of LIFE and I am fine with that.

Since last year, I have lost some family members, rekindled my love for God, becoming financially fit, working on being healthy, and just being a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend.

So often, I have not reflected on the important things in my life, I just existed and did what I thought was the best thing to do, for the sake of others and not myself. I am still learning and growing at this ripe age of 40 but I know it is for the better.

Things that I have learned!

  1. CHEER for YOURSELF. You do not need a group or an audience to let you know that you are doing great. Just a few will do, my little family does that for me.
  2. You are not going to be LIKED or LOVED by everyone. As long as you LOVE yourself and you have a few who always show you LOVE, then those are the ones that you FOCUS on.
  3. NEVER became so distracted that you miss what/who you NEED! Keep your eyes on the REWARD!
  4. GET RID OF THOSE EXPECTATIONS!!!!!! Thanks @KEGarland.
  6. Most importantly—BE U! The REAL U is better than THE FAKE U anyday!

Life begin when YOU make the changes that are needed to make YOU HAPPY!

I just updated some of my GOALS for my blog. It will be a challenge, but it will be one that I know will have success written all over it. I have failed at a few of the goals that I wanted to reach because I have not written anything in a while. So in the mean time, here are some updates.

In April, I had a blogiversary! Congrats to me! One year of doing this periodically!

  • I want to share more quality, motivational, and inspiring content with my readers/followers. ( Still a work in progress)
  • Focus more on quality dialog and engagement with my followers/readers. (WORK IN PROGRESS)
  • NETWORK, NETWORK, NETWORK!!!! (still working on this)
  • Reach 500 followers on WordPress by August 2016. (Failed miserably on this one-need 300 more followers)
  • Reach 1000 followers on WP by December 31, 2016. (still a work in progress)
  • Offer MY experiences and share more about who and why I am “A PERFECTLY FLAWED RUBY!” (what you guys have been waiting for) (WORKING ON IT)
  • Set up a publishing schedule. I work at night and it would be in my best interest to do this.
  • Restart my “Friendly Friday’s” segment beginning on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month. (Best to do this one monthly as well)
  • Start “Social Saturdays” monthly. (WORKING ON IT–I am working on most weekends but I will definitely try harder)
  • CREATE, CREATE, CREATE!!!!! My blog is more of a journal but I would like to move it to a “lifestyle” blog.  (Ambitious goal)
  • Become a “guest blogger” to many of you!  ; ) (I’m still waiting, LOL)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! hd-image-download-on-new-year

WOW, we are 4 days into 2016, and it has been steady so far.  I worked on New Year’s Eve and celebrated with my group of coworkers.  It was so quick.

The new year brings about a new beginning,  new opportunities, and a wonderful time to have what your heart desires.

It is the time to begin the business that you have dreamed and envisioned for a while!

It is time to create the life that you have wanted!

It is time to EXCEED their expectations!

This year, I am not creating resolutions, I am creating and focusing on GOALS!  A few of those goals, I posted in

I have blogging goals and lifestyle goals that I plan to achieve.

I claim this is going to be a GREAT YEAR for all of us! I want to thank all who shared, reblogged, followed,  and read in 2015.

My Faith Fight…

“How many times, do I go against Your will
Then You forgive me, but yet I still
Turn around and do the things, the things I shouldn’t do
Cause I belong to You and I know You will come through
Lord I know, I take advantage of Your grace
Here in this Christian race,
But yet I still hear You calling my name.

How many times, would it take for me to learn
That it’s only in Your will, I’ll ever earn
I’ll ever earn my life’s reward, the honor due to me
Life eternally, riches in Glory
Lord, I know, I know I don’t belong
With You cause I’ve done wrong
But yet I still hear You calling my name

How many times, do I go against Your will
Then You forgive me, but yet I still
Turn around and do the things, the things I shouldn’t do
Cause I belong to You and I know You will come through
Lord, I know, I know I don’t belong
With You cause I’ve done wrong
But yet I still hear You calling my name.”

This song sums up how I had been living my life over the past 3 years.

In 2011, I was living a life of sin. I had went to party and I was so drunk that I know I was an embarrassment to the people who loved me, but I was searching for something, I was missing something, I was INCOMPLETE! The next day, I prayed to God that I would never again be so inebriated if He would just let me feel better. I stopped drinking at that time. I was a heavy drinker, I wasn’t an alcoholic but I was well on my way.

Back in 2011, He called my name. I confessed my sins, gave my life to God. I was ready to give God everything. I made the decision that I was going to live my life for God. I preached my initial sermon, “EXPOSED FOR A PURPOSE”! That day in November 2011, when I stood up in church and read the poem by Maya Angelou, “When I say I am a Christian”, I knew it was no one but God. I was transparent, transparent with God and myself.

There were people around me that didn’t support my decision or weren’t ready for the ride, but I went on to let God take the wheel.  When you don’t have the support from the people whom you love and you think they love you, it is hard to stay on the straight and narrow. So, I took the wheel back from God. I decided that I was going to be the driver and no longer be chauffeured by God. What a BIG MISTAKE!!!!!

How could I think that my driving would get me to the place where I needed to be? How could I do what God needed me to do when I shut Him out?  How could I live the life that He promised me when I had left Him by the side of the road? How could I? So, around the same time last year, I had a renewed spirit, a renewed mind, and a renewed HEART, I gave my God, His right to chauffeur me again. I can’t take anyone with me, I can only take myself.  I know where I am trying to go, I got Heaven On My Mind. I have to live my life for myself and not for others. My happiness depends on ME!

This is a fight that I plan on winning. Your relationship with God is like every relationship. It may have its ups and downs, but in the end, if it’s what you want, it will last.

Happy Reading and Enjoy! 🙂

A Father’s Love

John 3:16- “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

LOVE is…

Love is soothing,

Love is calm,

Love is what you want in the perfect storm.

Love is caring,

Love is kind,

Love will give you peace of mind.

Love is painful,

Love is true,

Love will make you do silly things out the blue.

Love is somber,

Love is sweet,

Love will make the messiest person neat.

Love is caring,

Love is true,

I am so glad that, I LOVE YOU!

LOVE is what it does!  Don’t just tell me, I want you to show me!

Happy Reading! I hope you enjoy!

Your FUTURE awaits…

As she stood there, trying to decide if she should keep going or turn around, she realized everything that she wanted was in front of her. Most of her life, she was crippled by FEAR! FEAR was her comfort zone. She could not go any further. She knew it was an uncertain future, but, it had to be better than her past.  How would she know if she didn’t move? How would she know that her life would be remarkably different if she didn’t take the first step?

So many times in our lives, we are paralyzed by FEAR.  FEAR of the unknown. We lose so much because we are afraid to take those steps.

2 Timothy 1:7–“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of sound mind.

We have got to stop letting FEAR consume us and let FAITH move us.
